Brazil's pig inventory grew 3.2% in 2021, reaching 42.5 million animals, the largest national herd registered in the historical data series.
The South Region continues to be the leading region for pig production with 21.4 million animals, half of the national herd. With 7.8% growth and 8.4 million head, Santa Catarina continues to lead at the state level, followed by Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul.
At the city level, once again Toledo (Paraná) had the largest herd, followed by Uberlândia (Minas Gerais) and Rio Verde (Goiás).
