Total meat production in 2022/23 is estimated at 29.6 million tons (Mt), and by the end of the next decade, meat production is expected to reach 36.2 Mt (chicken, beef, and pork). This represents an increase of 22.4% over the projection period. The greatest increase in production should be for chicken (28.1%), followed by pork (23.2%), and beef (12.4%).
In terms of exports, projections indicate high growth rates for the three types of meat analyzed. Exports represent the most relevant variable in meat growth. Chicken meat should grow 2.8% annually, beef 2.6%, and pork 2.9%.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA, 2023) ranks Brazil as the third-largest pork exporter in 2032, behind the European Union and the United States.
Brazilian meat exports at the end of the projection period should reach 11.7 Mt, with an increase, therefore, of 30.8% compared to the initial year, in which 9.0 Mt were exported. The largest increases in meat exports should be for pork (33.5%), beef (29.7%), and chicken (30.9%). According to USDA 2023, the main markets for Brazilian pork are China, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, and the United States.
