All commercial pig farms in Bulgaria can now freely trade their pork on the European market.

Due to ASF, The European Commission (EC) had previously maintained restrictions on the production and trade of pigs and pork from 20 municipalities in 9 districts in Bulgaria, where some of the country's largest pig farms are located.

This is the second easing of restrictions for Bulgarian pig producers. In March this year, the EC eased restrictions in five districts (Razgrad, Dobrich, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad, Sofia district) and the municipality of Aksakovo in Varna district.
