Chile ends 2020 with a significant increase in pork exports

During the past year, Chile increased its exports of pork and offal by more than 28%.

According to data from Chile's Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa), the country ended 2020 with a 28.4% increase in pork and offal exports, reaching 283,464 tons.

Annual production was also up 8.3% over the previous year. The country produced 574,165 t of pork in 2020 compared to 529,957 t in 2019. As for imports, Chile imported 104,133 t, an increase of 5% compared to the previous year.

Despite the good export figures seen last year, this January the export volume, which reached 18,104 t, has been significantly reduced (-35%) when compared with the same month of the previous year (27,862 t) while, on the other hand, imports have increased by 79% with 12,617 t.
