Chile: important increase of meat consumption in the last decade

During last year the Chileans consumed a total of 87.2 kg of meat per capita.

During last year the Chileans consumed a total of 87.2 kg of meat per capita, according to the figures delivered by the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Oficina de Estudios y Políticas Agrarias [Odepa]). This means an increase of 17 kg with respect to the 70.2 kg consumed in year 2002.

The main meat consumed is that of poultry, with a consumption of 37 kg, followed by pork (27 kg) and beef (22.4 kg).
