In 2016, the exports of Chilean pork to China reached a record value of USD129 million, that represents an increase by 57.6% in comparison with the USD81.96 million reached in 2015.
The figures reached last year made China the main market for Chilean pork for the first time. From the USD446 million of pork sold overseas last year, China purchased 29%, beating Japan, South Korea and Russia, among other countries. Additionally, from the 293,000 tonnes exported, China bought 40.1% of the Chilean pork exported.
