According to the Association of Chilean Pig Producers (Asprocer), the banning of ractopamine in Chile has strengthened the exports of pig products to markets such as the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation and the European Union, that have banned the importation of pig meat from animals treated with this drug.

This banning is one of the most important reasons for the increase in the exports of Chilean pig products to the People's Republic of China, which represents a total increase by 93% of the FOB (in terms of value) and by 85% in terms of volume between January and August 2013 with respect to the same period in the previous year (Chilean Customs).
