Just as World Antimicrobial Awareness Week was ending, the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) signed a collaboration agreement with representatives of the Meat Exporters Association (Asociación de Exportadores de Carnes), ChileCarne, and the Meat Corporation(Corporación de la Carne), with the goal of promoting joint work in the area of prudent and responsible use of antimicrobials in national livestock production.

The signing of this agreement will allow the sector to be a collaborating agent in the control of the use of these medicines, which has direct benefits for commercialization, since the European market will soon demand that third countries regulate antimicrobials in a way that mirrors their own. Thus, national associations will begin to adapt to the upcoming requirements of the most demanding destination markets in the world, without losing their bargaining power.
