According to a government document by the Office of the State Council on promoting the development of animal husbandry, China has set a goal of becoming 95% self-sufficient in terms of pork supply.

The document lays out various points for the livestock industry to continue developing- from improving breeding and genetics to epidemic surveillance to strengthening the application of big data.
