Import restrictions on pork from Russia previously established by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China in Announcement No. 125 of 2008 no longer apply.
The General Administration of Customs has authorized the supply of pork from Russia based on the results of a risk assessment and analysis of the state system for African swine fever (ASF) control in Russia.
For 10 years, since 2013, Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision has carried out extensive work to ensure the admission of pork products to the Chinese market. The multi-stage procedure involved a negotiation process, the organization of visits of Chinese representatives to Russia to familiarize themselves with the tools of state supervision over the safety of pork products, and work to prevent and diagnose the spread of ASF.
