China has banned exports of pork from two Danish Crown slaughterhouses, according to the company. The affected slaughterhouses are Sæby and Horens.

These two plants being prohibited to export to China together with the appearance of ASF in Germany (which blocks its exports to third countries) and the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic are putting pressure on prices in the European internal pig market.

With more than 6000 employees in production, a high infection pressure, and with measures implemented to prevent the spread of the disease among employees, Danish Crown has seen the number of scheduled sacrifices reduced by a quarter of a million.

On the other hand, there is a shortage of labor for deboning throughout Europe needed to meet the demand from both Europe and Asia.
