The exports of Chilean pork to China in 2016 (both countries have a free trade agreement), showed a record of USD129 million (58% more than in 2015) and 119,889 tonnes (+38%).
In 2016, and for the first time, China became the main destination market for Chilean pork, with 29% of the total exports, followed by Japan (27%) and South Korea (22%).
Data from a report on foreign trade drafted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile show that in 206 China was Chile’s first trading partner.
In total, there were trading operations for USD31,217 million: 0.9% more than in 2015. China was the main destination for the Chilean exports, with a total value of USD17,068 million: 4.5% more than last year.
