After receiving the report on the situation of African swine fever in the province of Henan, the Ministry of Agriculture of China has decided to lift the restrictions in the city of Zhengzhou, where the second outbreak of the disease was confirmed.
The same has happened regarding the first outbreak of the disease in the district of Shenbei, in the city of Shenyang, province of Liaoning.
After the confirmation of both outbreaks, last August, the local authorities of both the city of Zhengzhou (in the province of Henan) and the district of Shenbei (in the city of Shenyang, province of Liaoning), implemented measures suck as the blocking (restriction of movements), culling and disinfection of the animals and the farms. After 6 weeks of continuous control and research, no new cases have been confirmed in Shenbei nor Zhengzhou. Before these results, the local government has decided to officially lift the restrictions in these areas.
Anyhow, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Matters has emphasised that the local livestock and veterinary departments must carry on strengthening the surveillance and that they must take the required prevention and control measures to prevent the reappearance of the disease in these areas.
