As of April 26, national and provincial avian influenza reference labs have collected a total of 390628 samples for H7N9 virus testing from 13014 surveillance sites around the country, including 2587 live poultry market, 337 poultry slaughterhouses, 8808 poultry farms, 341 wild birds habitats, 277 pig slaughterhouses, 31 pig farms and 633 other sampling spots.
218897 samples have been tested, including 150837 serology samples and 68060 pathology samples. Of the 68,060 serology samples, 46 have tested positive for the virus, resulting in a positive rate of 0.07%. Of those tested positive, 44 were from 14 live poultry markets in east China's Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces, central China's Henan province and the city of Shanghai. The rest two were from Jiangsu, including one from wild pigeon and one collected at a household farm of carrier pigeons.
No samples collected from poultry farms so far have tested positive for the H7N9 strain of avian influenza, and the virus has not been detected in pigs either.
