China notifies a new outbreak of FMD in pigs

The Chinese veterinary authorities have sent a report to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), stating that a new outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) has occurred.

According to the report, the outbreak occurred in Guangyuan (Sichuan). The outbreak started on 7 January in swine. The epidemiological unit is a village with 124 susceptible animals, 30 of which are affected. All animals have been destroyed.
