As a result of the technical visit made by the ICA and the Ministry of Agriculture of Colombia, the government of the People's Republic of China, through its Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the General Customs Administration, recognised that presently, Colombia is a foot-and-mouth disease-free country with vaccination. “This is an announcement with a great positive impact on the economy of the some 500,00 Colombian farming families. This measure brings us closer to the admission of the Colombian beef and pork in the Chinese market. This is a task that has been going on for many years, and that is still bearing fruit nowadays”, the general manager of the ICA, Mr Luis Humberto Martínez Lacouture, said.

For his part, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Juan Guillermo Zuluaga, highlighted the decision of the Chinese government and showed his satisfaction for this first result of the tour carried out in China, and said that in this way, the goal of opening this important market with 1.3 billion consumers is growing stronger.
