The Ministry of Commerce has implemented the requirements of the CPC Central Committee to strengthen market protection and supply in order to respond to the coronavirus epidemic. MOFCOM has acted immediately to promote the import of meat products.

MOFCOM has strengthened monitoring to get hold of the dynamic market demand. In the first half of January, the actual arrivals of imported pork, beef and other meat totaled 310,000 tons, with an increase of 275% year on year. It is expected that the amount will reach 640,000 tons in the whole January, with a year-on-year increase of 190%. Overall, the stock of imported meat is relatively sufficient.

MOFCOM has facilitated trade on imported pork based on the actual demand for meat products in the domestic market, and has strengthened industry guidance to provide all-round facilitation for pork import.
