Chinese pork imports reached 530,000 tons in the first quarter, an increase of 26% compared to the same period last year. Including offal, the volume increases to 820,000 tons (+21%).
However, it should be noted that this increase is mainly due to January imports, which reached 220,000 t of pork, since in February and March these imports fell to 160,000 t and 150,000 t, respectively, values slightly higher than those of the previous year (130,000 and 140,000 t respectively in February and March 2022).
