The DGSAF, of the Ministry of Health of Italy, has presented the "ClassyFarm" project, a system that allows to classify the risks on Italian farms.
It is an integrated control system for the gathering of data from multiple sources (official controls, databases and information from the veterinarians of the company) that allows to make a general assessment of the farm in all the areas related to animal health and welfare (including veterinary drugs and biosecurity).
This assessment will be summarised with a number (index) resulting from the validated and obtained coefficients that will allow the competent authorities to establish a specific official control programme and will allow to reduce the workload in terms of a lower frequency of controls. The pilot project has been started in 50 farms.
