After the session of joint committees of the Senate and House of Representatives, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Rodolfo Zea Navarro, reported that the Agricultural Inputs Bill was approved in the first debate, with which the government of President Iván Duque is committed to supporting small and medium producers in access to inputs in this market.

"With this Agricultural Inputs Bill, which continues its course in the Congress of the Republic, we want to improve access to this market for small and medium producers; promote environmentally friendly fertilizers and manure; fund resources; and strengthen the supervision of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce," said Minister Zea Navarro.

Specifically, on the point of the Account Fund, which is in the Bill, the head of the agricultural portfolio explained that this will be useful for small and medium producers to have access to resources when prices increase due to different situations, like the current situation with raw materials worldwide.

It is worth mentioning that, in Colombia, the agricultural inputs market has a yearly turnover of around $4.94 billion, of which $2.37 billion is for the fertilizer segment; $1.54 billion for pesticides; and $1.03 billion for veterinary drugs and vaccines.

Finally, Minister Zea Navarro indicated that the Agricultural Inputs Bill will continue on its way through the Congress of the Republic and the Government will continue to promote its approval as soon as possible.
