Colombia's corn consumption is projected to increase in market year 2025/2026 to 8.45 MMT to support strengthening demand from the animal feed sector. Growth in domestic poultry and pork production was stronger than expected in 2024 and has led to higher corn demand for animal feed. In 2024, chicken and egg production increased 2.8% year-on-year, while pork production increased 7.8% in the same period. Colombia’s poultry industry remains the largest consumer of animal feeds, representing 65% of total corn imports, while the pork sector accounts for 17% of total corn imports. Approximately 95% of corn imports are processed for animal feed, with the remaining 5% for human consumption.
Corn consumption will continue to be buoyed mostly through imports, forecasted to increase by 3.6% to reach 7.2 MMT, with the United States as the main supplier.

In market year 2025/2026, Colombian corn production is forecast to increase 3.3% year-on-year to 1.55 million metric tons, supported by expectations of favorable weather conditions.
