The European Commission has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of sole control over SPF-Danmark A/S by Leverandørselskabet Danish Crown AmbA, both of Denmark.

SPF is active in the market for trading and transportation of piglets and breeding animals in Denmark and abroad, as well as in the market for transportation of slaughter pigs. Danish Crown is specialised in the slaughtering, de-boning, processing and refining of meat as well as in the sale of fresh meat and meat products.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, because of its very limited impact on the market structure. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. More information is available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.7983.
