Espinosa states that the production for this year is foreseen to be 150 thousand tons of pork meat, of which 107 thousand will come from state establishments, destined for industry. The rest will be provided by farmers and individual producers through the aforementioned agreement.
The director explained that in 2010 it was not possible to fulfill the plan due to various causes, among them the lack of 52 thousand tons of feed and an insufficient use of the existing infrastructure.
According to Espinosa, development of the available genetic potential integrated by more than 100 state owned farms that guarantee reproduction of highly efficient animals, plays a key role.
