According to the ICEX, during the 23rd Cuban Food and Agroindustrial International Fair, ‘Fiagrop 2019’, that ended last March 22nd, the establishment, in 2019, of between 6 and 8 new mixed businesses for the production of pork and chicken was announced.
According to the statements of the manager of the Livestock Business Group (Grupo Empresarial Ganadero, GEGAN) to the Prensa Latina magazine, “there is the potential for the development of 28 investment projects to increase the Cuban pork and chicken production.” She also explained that “for the moment, the countries with a greater interest for the development of new projects in the food and agriculture sector are Spain, Germany and Denmark.”
It is expected that these new projects develop in all the Cuban provinces, and that in 2020 at least 80% of them are in their development stage.
According to the statements of the GEGAN manager, these potential projects are those needed to satisfy the real meat products demand in Cuba, according to the market studies carried out in the area.
