The production of pork in Cuba reached 194,976 tonnes last year, the highest figure in its history.

In 2005 (when 65,000 tonnes were produced) the Porcine Program was launched, which consequences began to materialize two years later, when production increased to 147,800 tonnes.

They are expecting to reach 220,000 tonnes by 2020.

Importation of this type of meat has not been necessary since 2010.
