With the aim of strengthening the Colombian official veterinary service, ensuring the pork quality, and that Colombia reaches its goal of creating a more safe and competitive pig production, Colombia and Denmark have revealed a technical cooperation project in terms of health aspects in the Colombian pig production.
For the development of this project, the institutions involved, together with the pig sector, have defined as subjects of interest matters such as chemical residues, pathogens (e.g. Salmonella), methodologies, hazard analysis, food safety, inspection at abattoirs, etc., directed towards the harmlessness of pork production, and they have been developed with the participation of Danish experts, that will be in Colombia until October 7th.
The role of the Danish experts will mainly be to assess the Colombian technicians, and to this end they will have the support of consultants from the Danish Technical University. The activities will be carried out in Colombia and Denmark.
It is expected that the result of this technical cooperation will have a positive impact on the Colombian goals for generating a safer production for the consumers' health, an increase in the national pig production and the access to the world pork market.
