Exports of fresh and frozen pork registered a 7% increase in the first semester of 2011, with respect to the same period last year, reaching a total of 613,300 tons, while in value the increase was 3%.
This increase in volume of exports was positively affected by the 6% rise in meat production which reached a total of 997,000 tons.
Sales within the European Union have continued with practically no change; they make up 71% of Danish exports. There has been a significant increase in German demand (+12%), the main destination of Danish meat. Increases were also noted in exports to Poland (+4%), the UK (2%) and Italy (+10%).
