Danish Minister of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Rasmus Prehn, announced that Denmark must now have a state-controlled climate label to help consumers make green choices when shopping and push food production in a more climate-friendly direction. This label must ensure that there is one common climate label that consumers can trust and that the retail trade and the food industry will widely use.
The government has allocated nine million DKK for large-scale development work. To develop the state-controlled climate label, the Minister of Food is now setting up a working group. All relevant actors get the opportunity to provide their input about the new Danish climate label. The working group must prepare a concrete model, which must be presented before Christmas.
