At the same time, the bases were established for the implementation of regional and global biosecurity standards for the prevention of African swine fever (ASF) and other diseases on farms.

The bilateral agreement, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, through USDA-APHIS, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Agricultural Bank, and several national federations of pig farmers, was signed during the closing of the ASF Incident Command in the country, where the achievements in the elimination of this disease that affects pigs were presented.

At the event, the Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruz, informed that the country already has a vaccine against ASF, brought from Vietnam. This vaccine is currently being replicated by local laboratories, thanks to the efforts of the government of President Luis Abinader and international organizations.

The conclave was held at the Convention Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the participation of international experts: Dr. Silvia Kreindel of USDA-APHIS, representatives of the US Embassy, Jeromi Mckim and Gina Rosario, representatives of IICA; former President Hipólito Mejía, the administrator of the Agricultural Bank, Fernando Durán; Fernando Fernández of ADOGRANJA, Francisco Israel Brito of FEDOPORC, other authorities, and local producers.
