The data of the Dutch Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek show how last year the Dutch pork exports reached a record figure of 944 million kg, an increase by 6% with respect to 2014, according to what has been published by Pigbusiness.nl.
The biggest rise has been that of the exports to Asian countries, that have increased considerably in the last two years, although the value of the exports has decreased by 15% with respect to two years ago, due to the low prices of pork. The sales to China grew from 52 million in 2014 to 114 million in 2015. The exports to South Korea and Singapore have also grown, whilst the exports to Japan and Taiwan have decreased slightly.
Nevertheless, south Europe still is the main market for Dutch pork. Italy was the main destination, with a total value of €279 million, and The Netherlands were also the main pork supplier for Greece.
Regarding the pork exporters world ranking, The Netherlands places sixth, behind Germany, US, Spain, Denmark and Canada.
