According to the latest USDA estimates published July 12, the breeding sow census in China in 2022 is expected to grow by 1.3% compared to 2021, reaching 40 million head. Likewise, Mexico's sow inventory will grow by 2.4%, reaching 1.29 million heads, surpassing Canada and South Korea, whose breeding sow inventories will reach 1.24 and 1.02 million head, with 0.3% and 2.2% growth, respectively.
On the other hand, the entity projects a decrease in the sow inventories in some of the world's leading producers such as the European Union, which is expected to see a 3.2% decrease in its inventory at 10.9 million head. Likewise, for the United States, a contraction of 0.8% is estimated with 6.13 million head, while for Russia and Brazil, stocks of 3.46 and 2.98 million head are projected, with decreases of 1.1% and 1.0% compared to 2021, respectively.
