During this first quarter, European pork exports reached 1,602,209 tons, up 30.1% compared to the same period last year.

China continues to be the main destination, accounting for almost 60% of the total share, with 954,000 tons of European meat imported, an increase of 26.2%.

The increase in exports to the Philippines is noteworthy, becoming the second leading destination with 96,137 tons. This increase is due to the serious pork supply problems suffered by the country as a result of the spread of African swine fever. During this first quarter, it has already imported more than half of what it imported during all of 2020 (152,855 t), when it was the fifth destination with a 2.8% share.
