EU: Pork exports to China grow by 42%

From January to June, European pork exports to China have reached 965,768 tonnes: 42% more than in the same period in 2018.

The latest data published by the European Commission regarding the EU’s pork exports show that during the first semester of 2019 the European exports to China have grown by 42% with respect to the same period in 2019, going from 680,686 tonnes in 2018 to 965,768 tonnes in 2019. Apart from the important increase in exports to China, we must also highlight the increase by 36% in the exports of pork to Vietnam, that have grown and reached 43,515 tonnes.

China represents 43.5% of the total exports, followed by Japan, with 241,688 tonnes (10.9% of the total share) and South Korea, with 160,833 tonnes (7.2%).

Regarding the total data, the exports between January and June 2019 have reached 2,220,202 tonnes: an increase by 14.7% with respect to the same period in 2018.
