The TAIEX Multi-country Workshop, where the role of the wildlife in the animal health management is discussed, is currently taking place in Sofia (Bulgaria).
The aim of the event is to provide an overview of the role of the wildlife in the context of the animal health management in the EU and in the neighbouring non-EU counties. The meeting will focus on the strengthening and future perspectives of harmonising and adapting the measures related to wildlife management with a view to the existing threats regarding the introduction and spreading of animal diseases affecting both wildlife and domestic animals (including Classical and African Swine Fever, Avian Influenza, Rabies, Foot-and-Mouth Disease and others). The event would be a platform for improving the cooperation at a regional level between the EU and neighbouring non-EU countries.
Among other questions, a brochure has been published, in several languages, on the important role of hunters in the control of African swine fever.
