European pork deadweight prices are up 6% in February 2011 against February 2010 according to Eurostat.

However, this must be compared with the price of wheat that have more than doubled in one year and even with the price of poultry up 18% and butter up 35%. In an interesting study, the European Commission reports that prices fell in the UK by 1%, the only country in the EU with Romania and Bulgaria where this has taken place but for very different reasons. Pork prices are up 12% in France, 3% in Germany, 10% in Spain and 12% in Poland.
