European pork exports on the rise

During the first 9 months of 2015, the UE has exported a total of 2,247,587 tonnes of pork. This entails an increase by 5.8%.

During the first 9 months of 2015, the UE has exported a total of 2,247,587 tonnes of pork versus 2,125,100 tonnes during the same period in 2014. This entails an increase by 5.8%, but this figure is below the 2,286,384 tonnes during the same period in 2013.

The main destination of the EU pork exports is China (33.9% of the total), followed by Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and The Philippines. China is the main responsible for the growth in exports, with an increase by 51%, whilst there are drops by 17% and 33% in the exports to Japan and Hong Kong.

Regarding the global exports, the UE stands as the main exporter at a worldwide level, followed by USA (some 1,600,000 tonnes) and Canada (some 800,000 tonnes).
