With 5 Mha planted under the influence of an "El Niño" year, the first soybean estimate for the core region expects production to be 20.2 Mt. It is important to highlight that this figure is 1.5 Mt higher than the production forecast for the region under "normal climate" conditions. This "normal" scenario projected a production of 1.87 t/ha with an average yield for the region of 3.8 t/ha for the total soybean crop (first and second soybeans). The current reality of the crop exceeds the expectations with which soybean planting began in October: an El Niño in place but with no rainfall.
This volume would be five times greater than last year's crop (3.9 Mt of soybeans). Despite the slight decrease in the water reserves of the soil profiles due to the absence of rainfall in the last 7 days, the condition of soybeans in the core region is maintained. Ninety percent of the lots are classified between excellent and very good conditions.
