Spain's exports of pork and pork products increased by 4% in June 2024, reaching 99,139 tons, compared to 95,360 tons in the same month in 2023. However, year-to-date exports have decreased slightly by 3.5%, with 656,766 tons exported so far this year, compared to 680,378 tons in the same period last year.
Pork represents 85% of the total meats and preparations exports, which amounted to 116,485 tons in June 2024. In annual terms, it also maintains a considerable weight, since of the 758,122 tons exported in total in the category of meats and preparations, 656,766 tons correspond to pork and pork products, which is equivalent to approximately 87% of the total of this category.
Spanish pork exports to third countries in 2024 show varied trends. China, which continues to be the main destination, has registered a decrease of 11.5% compared to the previous year. Year-to-date, Spain has exported 261,074 tons of pork to China, compared to 295,193 tons in 2023.
In contrast, other key markets have shown remarkable growth. Japan, the second leading destination, imported 104,404 tons in 2024, up 3% from 101,328 tons the previous year. Similarly, the Philippines has experienced significant growth of 19%, reaching 94,452 tons, compared to 78,599 tons in 2023.
Great Britain, another important market, has also shown a 7.4% increase in its imports of Spanish pork, from 25,670 tons in 2023 to 27,579 tons in 2024.
South Korea has followed China's trend, with a 14% drop in imports, from 60,796 tons in 2023 to 53,088 tons in 2024.
