- China: three sources of Serotype O in swine and cattle, between July and August of 2010.
- Taiwan: 8 pigs were detected with foot and mouth disease antibodies in routine testing. The pigs were clinically healthy.
- Japan: The latest type O foot and mouth disease case, making case number 292, was July 4 in a bovine animal. OIE will petition for disease-free status.
- Mongolia: 3 sources of type O disease, on at the end of August, another at the beginning of September, and a third at the beginning of November, affecting cattle, sheep, and goats, and situated in three different provinces; all sources identified this year have been located in the Eastern part of the country.
- Russian Federation: a source was identified at the beginning of July and another at the end of August, both cases were type O. While July’s source was identified with those in Japan and South Korea, the August case was identified with those of Mongolia.
- Venezuela: one type A case in July.
- Botswana: One serotype SAT2 case this summer.
- Zimbabwe: 4 type SAT 2 cases between May and June of 2010.
- South Africa: one case identified in cattle in August.
- Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and Turkey: the Pan-Asia-2 and A-Iran-05 lineages are dominant in these countries.
