As of January 1, 2022, all farms keeping domestic animals (production animals, companion animals, equines), as well as domesticated or captive wild animals, must designate a reference person in charge of animal welfare.
This new mandate is accompanied by an obligation to train these persons on pig and poultry farms. The reference persons in these industries will have to take a training course certified and endorsed by the Vivéa and OCAPIAT organizations. These establishments will guarantee the quality of the contents and speakers.
The designated reference persons on pig and poultry farms will have 6 months from January 1, 2022 to start the training course and will have 18 months to complete it. Given the steps taken since the beginning of 2018, certain training courses previously conducted may be recognized as part of the training course.
