According to Cepea researchers, this is due to possible increases in domestic consumption and exports and the likely reduction in production costs compared to previous years.
Cepea's calculations estimate that pork consumption in 2024 could grow by 2.8% compared to last year. As for Brazilian pork exports, the performance seen in 2023 is expected to be sustained in 2024.
To meet domestic and foreign demand for fresh and processed pork products, projections made by Cepea indicate a 3.3% increase in the number of animals slaughtered from 2023 to 2024, which could total 59.1 million head.
Pig farmers can look forward to slightly better profitability than that observed between 2018 and 2022, especially as a result of the recent devaluations of corn and soybean meal.
