A wild boar hunted near Kitee in North Karelia tested positive for Aujeszky's disease antibodies.

The outbreak does not affect the Aujeszky's disease-free status of Finland, as it was detected in a wild boar. The domestic pig population remains free of the disease. All domestic pigs raised outdoors in Finland are protected from contact with wild boar by double fencing.

The last detection of antibodies against the disease was in 2019 and also in a wild boar.
