Tests carried out on June 19, by a laboratory in Brescia found African swine fever (ASF) in a wild boar carcass taken on June 16, from the Torretta locality in Bagnaria, Pavia. Official confirmation came from the National Reference Center on June 20.
The positive case was detected in a dead wild boar. For weeks, the Lombardy Region has had an "active" search for wild boar carcasses in the territory bordering the areas already affected by ASF.
A meeting between Commissioner Caputo and Regional Councilor Beduschi took place. The active search will be enhanced by logistical support from the army to patrol the territory and find wild boar carcasses. Drones will also be used to monitor the activity and movements of animals among the vegetation.
