As a testimony to the importance of this industry, the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, adopted the first-ever joint declaration on agricultural trade and cooperation.

Among the various agreements signed between Marc Fesneau, French Minister of Agriculture, and Yu Jinhua, Minister in charge of the Chinese General Administration of Customs, was the opening of the Chinese market to pork offal, thanks to a modification of the protocol for the export of pork, as well as processed pork proteins. The two countries also signed a zoning agreement in the event of an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). Regarding the access of bovine products to the Chinese market, France will remain vigilant to ensure that the embargo on bovine spongiform encephalopathy is completely lifted.
