The French veterinary authorities have reported two outbreaks of Aujeszy's disease in domestic pigs and wild boar to the OIE.
The first case concerns a pair of adult breeding pigs that tested positive in the context of prophylaxis. The two animals and the three piglets were kept outdoors in Humbecourt (Haute-Marne). Transmission by wild boar is strongly suspected; the fences present did not guarantee the absence of contact.
The second outbreak was detected on a wild boar farm (with three sows), located in Gennetines (Allier), which tested positive in the context of prophylaxis (6 animals out of 15 tested). This is an outdoor farm and transmission by free-ranging wild boar is strongly suspected. The epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
