The wild boar (Sus scrofa) population is growing significantly in France due to extremely favorable conditions (abundance of food and calm areas). It is currently estimated that there are more than 1.5 million of these animals.
In addition to the damage they cause to crops (which amounts to some 50 million euros), they are a threat in terms of disease transmission, as would be the case with ASF.
Given this situation, the Ministry of Ecology has launched a consultation on the draft decree through which the use of traps is seen as a means to combat the damage caused by wild boar.
