The Official Journal of the French Republic has published two decrees regarding the surveillance and control measures before the African swine fever (ASF) threat.
The first decree has to do with the prevention and surveillance that must be implemented regarding the hunting and forestry activities, and the second one has to do with the prevention and surveillance measures on pig farms in the intervention area established after the discovery of the ASF cases in wild boars in Belgium.
The perimeter of the intervention area includes a strengthened surveillance area made up by 134 municipalities, and a surveillance area that includes all the municipalities in Ardennes, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse and Moselle, with the exception of the municipalities located in the strengthened surveillance area (see the map).
