France – Decrease in feed production

According to figures from Coop de France Nutrition animale/Snia, the production of animal feed has suffered a reduction of 5.6% during the third quarter of 2009, although this reduction is not as big as that observed in the two previous quarters in which the decreases were by 7.7% and 7.2%.

According to figures from Coop de France Nutrition animale/Snia, the production of animal feed has suffered a reduction of 5.6% during the third quarter of 2009, although this reduction is not as big as that observed in the two previous quarters in which the decreases were by 7.7% and 7.2%.

With respect to the latest figures (September 2009), although the decrease of feed production was of -4.5%, this decrease was not as pronounced as in previous months (-6.5% in August and -5.8% in July). During September 2009, the decrease was stable in the production of feeds for beef cattle (-7.8%) and laying chickens (-3.2%) while in the case of dairy cattle, pigs and turkeys the decrease in feed production was less important compared with the previous months (-9.1%, -5.9% y -8.5%, respectively).
