Export volumes (excluding offal) from France fell sharply in 2023 (-40,000 t carcass, down 8.9%) to around 618,000 t, with an additional 147,000 t in offal.

Fresh and frozen pork exports from France to third countries fell by 0.9%. Exports to China fell by 16.5%, as it imports less and less pork due to the rise in its domestic production. In the European Union, Italy's share, the main destination for French pork, rose 6.6%, while Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium fell by 2.0%, 2.9%, and 1.5% respectively.

French export sales for all pork products (including offal) are estimated at 1.9 billion euros in 2023, up 122 million euros (+6.8%) from 2022. These figures give an incomplete picture of the reality of trade since the sharp price rise masks the fall in volume (-7.9%).
