French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to China enabled 15 additional French meat companies (4 slaughterhouses and 11 charcuterie companies) to obtain the necessary approval to export their products to China.

For the French pork industry, China represents the main export outlet to third countries (17% of exports), but above all the possibility of marketing less consumed parts of the pig (feet, ears, etc.).

"These approvals offer the possibility of recovering an additional 10% of tonnage. This opportunity is very important for the companies involved because it allows a significant increase in the value of the slaughtered pigs," specifies Thierry Meyer, president of INAPORC, who was part of the French delegation during this trip.

The meeting between the French and Chinese ministers opened a new field of negotiation on the possibility for the French pork industry to export white offal. These products valued in France in the form of "andouille" and "andouillettes" are very popular with the Chinese who consume them in original recipes. This extension of exportable products to China represents a potential turnover of 35 million euros.
